Well, I’ve talked myself up pretty thoroughly so far. Let’s hope my work lives up to the hype! Below are samples of some of my favourite projects. Please note that this page is still a work in progress—more clients/projects to come!

The environment & urban ecologies collection

Client: UNSW Sydney Water Research Centre
Project:
Project Halophyte web copy

Description: Researchers from UNSW Sydney and the University of the South Pacific are piloting nature-based solutions to reinstate tidal flows and reinvigorate local mangrove populations in Viti Levu, Fiji. The research team commissioned me to develop web content to capture the aims and outcomes of this work.

The Water Stories of Green Square
Project 2: The Green Square Atlas of Civic Ecologies

Description: Mapping Edges is a transdisciplinary research studio that explores the relationships between ecologies, people and the urban environment. Between 2021–2023, I was invited to copyedit two vibrant projects that mapped the social and ecological histories and present-day stories of Sydney’s Green Square precinct.

Industry breakfast series

Description: At this monthly event series, academics from the Faculty of Design, Architecture & Building presented their research projects to an industry audience to generate new partnership opportunities. I was commissioned to interview the researchers and write up a short flyer for each project as take-home collateral for attendees.

Client: Black Dog Institute
Project: CRESP project summaries

Description: The Centre of Research Excellence in Suicide Prevention was established at Black Dog Institute in 2018 for a five-year period. As part of CRESP’s 2023 wrap-up activities, I was commissioned to produce 20+ project summaries that outlined the Centre’s major research achievements.

Project: Suicide prevention for LGBTIQ+ communities

Description: This report explores the experiences, challenges and opportunities of delivering suicide prevention activities for LGBTIQ+ communities during the National Suicide Prevention Trial (NSPT), which ran at 12 sites across Australia between 2016 and 2021. Content was developed based on a series of interviews and workshops with NSPT trial site staff and representatives from the LGBTIQ+ community.

Project: Suicide prevention for veterans: a toolkit

Description: Veterans are a priority population for suicide prevention due to their high levels of trauma exposure. This project sought to develop a practical toolkit for primary health networks that would enable the development of suicide prevention programs that would address the unique needs of this population. Content was developed based on a series of interviews with veterans and their families, as well as primary health network teams.

Description: The UNSW Water Research Centre is a water and environmental engineering group with a focus on sustainable futures. I was commissioned to write a series of researcher profiles that would showcase the breadth of expertise within the centre.

Project: Graduate profile series

Description: UTS is home to one of Australia’s leading design programs. This project sought to profile remarkable School of Design graduates who are transforming the global fashion and visual communication landscape.

Client: Black Dog Institute
Project: Annual Report

Description: I’ve had the pleasure of working with Black Dog Institute for more than 10 years. One of my regular projects is to support the development of the Institute’s annual report. This includes conducting interviews, drafting content and copyediting submissions to ensure they align with the Black Dog Institute tone of voice.

Client: Australian Red Cross

Project: Australian Red Cross Annual Report (2022/2023)

Description: Australian Red Cross is a long-term client. In 2023, I was commissioned to copyedit their annual report to ensure alignment with their brand and tone of voice.

Project: Undergraduate and postgraduate course guides

Description: Course guides are among UTS’ key pieces of recruitment collateral. For the last few years, I’ve worked with the central Marketing and Communications team and individual faculties to collate and write content for various course guides.

The above samples are all public-facing content, but I also work on a wide range of internal documents such as email journeys, fundraising campaigns, reports, presentations, strategy documents and staff-only intranet content that I can’t publish here.
